🔥 Fire School 101 🔥
Every year our union, Local 1696, hosts a hands on event for our local community leaders and media members to learn and experience what being a firefighter is all about. This is done in full support from our UFA leaders and hosted on UFA training grounds.
Additionally, crews are brought out to demonstrate some of our specialty programs like hazmat, heavy rescue rope rescue, bomb dogs, medical response on a full arrest, and a fire suppression demonstration with a victim and flying them out with AirMed. @UofUAirMed

Utah Guide Dogs for the Blind brought their puppies to Station 117 for annual training. This group takes puppies and does the initial training and socialization before they go to dog college to become seeing-eye dogs. The dogs are taken to sporting events, city streets, shops
restaurants, and any place a blind person might go. This is the second year the dogs and their trainers have come to Station 117 to acclimatize the dogs to fire engines and firefighters. There’s nothing better than dogs and firefighters.

As spring arrives, the world bursts into new life, signaling the start of the seasonal duck rescues. Station 124 in @rivertonutahgov recently came to the aid of 15 ducklings and their distraught mother. Their compassion and dedication helped reunite this little family. Great work 124!

Position: Mobile Fleet Mechanic

The Mobile Fleet Mechanic must be able to perform major and minor tune-ups, maintenance (including welding), and safety inspections, on gasoline, diesel, and other mechanical equipment. Must also be able to work on manual transmissions, differentials, suspensions, chassis systems, cooling, and fuel, electrical and hydraulic systems. Fleet mechanic will be responsible for both heavy and light fleet vehicles and will regularly respond to locations outside of a shop environment to make mobile repairs. This position is required to participate in after hours and weekend call-out on a weekly or monthly basis.
