Pumpkin Drop

Draper City Halloween Pumpkin Drop

Happy Halloween

It’s Halloween, and UFA crews have been busy in their communities. Throughout the county UFA crews have attended community functions and spread Halloween safety messages. On October 27th, Ladder 105 attended Draper City’s Halloween party. They kicked the evening off with a pumpkin drop, let children tour the truck, and helped children complete a spooky scavenger hunt. The Ladder Truck extends to 75 feet, or about 7 stories high. A pumpkin dropped from this height explodes when it hits the ground. Kids love it. Adults love it. It is quite an entertaining site If you look close at the picture on the right, you can see the pumpkin about half way down the ladder, falling to the concrete roadway below!

Ice Cream Night

Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Night

Unified Fire Authority participated in Baskin Robbins' annual 31 Cent Ice Cream night. Firefighters from Station 104 in Holladay spent the evening working behind the counter and teaching fire safety lessons to customers waiting in line. UFA would like to thank Baskin Robbins for their donation to the National Fallen Firefighter Fund.

Safe Kids Fair

Safe Kids Fair 2008

On January 11th and 12th, Unified Fire Authority Participated in the Utah Safe Kids Coalition’s Zero Fatalities   Safe Kids Fair. Unified Fire had a booth at the fair with the Fire   Safety Trailer, a Seagrave fire engine, a fire safety information   booth, and four firefighters to oversee the festivities and answer    questions. In addition to the booth, Unified Fire conducted a fire   safety show on the main stage of the fair. The show outlined fire    safety, proper use of 911, exit drills, and not being afraid of   firefighters. The show was informative, high energy, and very   entertaining. The audience yelled answers to all of the     firefighter’s questions, demonstrated how to dial 911 on our   gigantic phone, participated in a stop drop and roll contest, and   even got a little wet when they weren’t loud enough. The fire   engine was a hit with the kids, and an even bigger hit with all of    the parents who brought cameras. The Fireafety Trailer taught many kids about fire safety in the home, and made many other kids panic as the bedroom filled with smoke. Approximately 10,000 people attended the fair, and Unified Fire Authority was the only sponsoring fire department present. We received rave reviews from the organizers of the event. Safe Kids Coalition has already invited us back for next year’s fair, and have demanded that we do our stage show again. The Safe Kids Fair was an incredible opportunity for Unified Fire Authority to show the community why it’s the best fire department in Utah. UFA did just that!
