NEW FIRE STATION CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Riverton Station #124—Located at 12662 South 1300 West in Riverton, the east (front) and west (back) concrete walls have been poured in place, and the forms removed to join the south walls in showing the overall shell of the building. Occurring next will be backfill and compaction of interior floor areas. Concrete work will continue, along with cinder block interior wall construction. Station is planned for completion for the Summer of 2012.

Big Cottonwood Canyon Station #108— Located at 7688 South Big Cottonwood Canyon Road, the project is still moving along in the current winter conditions. Exterior windows and doors (including apparatus bay doors) have been installed on the main level. Also continuing are the stone masonry and stucco finishes on the exterior. Interior work is moving forward including all mechanical, plumbing, electrical and insulation work. Drywall is being hung in the lower level which is designed as the fire crew living quarters.

Magna Station #111—Located at 8215 West 3500 South, the project is nearing completion. The station is expected to be staffed early in December, with the Ribbon Cutting scheduled on Monday December 19th at 10:00am. On the interior- painting, finish electrical, installation of acoustical ceilings is happening. Cement walk ways, the front apparatus drive apron are finished, as well as metal soffit and fascia is being completed on the exterior. Finish dirt work and landscaping is also underway. This new fire station will compliment UFA Station 102 located to the north on Magna’s Main Street. Station 111 is a new beautiful public building which will serve current and future generations of the Magna Community, immediately providing quicker response to the south areas of Magna.
