Fire Prevention
Overview:
Public education, pre-planning of new structures, and the inspection of existing businesses are some of the many services conducted by the Fire Prevention Bureau.
The experience and dedication of Bureau staff members serves to save countless lives each year.
Inspections:
Business inspections are done by engine companies. Nursing homes, day cares, institutional, and assembly occupancies are inspected by Fire Prevention and engine companies. If you have questions pertaining to inspections call: 743-7231.
Fire Alarm and Fire Sprinkler systems:
All plans for alarms and sprinklers need to be reviewed at the office of Fire Prevention.
Areas with problems, such as improper fire flows, may be required to install residential sprinklers. These include: Millcreek, Olympus Cove, and areas in Holladay, as well as areas in Draper City, Herriman City. Any construction done in the canyons that lies within our jurisdiction is also subject to these requirements.

Hazardous Material Permits:
Hazmat permit application, short-form HMMP package - EZ
Burn Permits:
The fire department does not issue burn permits and the current ordinance states: No Open Burning. However, agricultural burning us allowed by state code annotated.
